Never Doubt I |
A young woman walked up to me last Thursday at an evening networking event where I spoke briefly and signed copies of our new book (co-author) and asked me if I would give her one piece of advice for her life. I thought only a moment before saying, “Never doubt yourself” Question your decisions, question your choices, question your actions—but never doubt yourself. You were designed to be exactly the way you are!
We had quite a lovely discussion, and she wrote the phrase down. I had thought about writing a book about not questioning yourself—but only as a possibility.
Two days later as I was driving, I was listening to the Prairie Home Companion on NPR when Garrison Kellior introduced a duet– the Brothers Frantzich—and they sang this lovely ballad, “Never Doubt I”. It blew me away. The title for the book? It instantly became the working title. And while on-line ordering the Frantzich’s brothers album, I discovered a Shakespeare sonnet.
Doubt thou the stars are fire,
Doubt that the sun doth move,
Doubt truth to be a liar,
But never doubt I (love). |
Of course, I am taking license with both song and a sonnet. Hamlet is speaking of his love for Ophelia and the song is about love for another. Why not that kind of love for oneself?
I love the Goethe quote, “When you get clarity about what you want, the universe conspires to make it happen.” The creative flood gates had opened, and suddenly, chapters and quotes and people to interview and resources came flooding into my head. All have been mindmapped and captured into a project folder—titled Book,” Never Doubt I.” Please look for Never Doubt I at a bookseller near you, circa 2009.
That was EASY!
