In our new book, Magnificent Masters in Financial Services, my co-author, Diane Dixon, and I highlight fourteen amazing women who are truly powerful beyond measure.
One of the women, Annette Stone, was pregnant the year that she lost both her oldest child and her husband. As a single mom with a newborn son, she needed to be able to support her family, so she opened a State Farm Insurance Agency. She committed to make her agency a success by making a banker her advocate and promoting herself and her business. In fact the first year, she had night appointments in her office with her newborn under the desk in his infant seat as she sold insurance to her customers and prospects. She raised her son and created such a successful business that she built the home of her dreams and bought her own cattle ranch.
Iris Mack Dayoub, a college professor and the mother of five, got out of her comfort zone as her children went off to college and decided to compete in the business arena and train as a triathlete in the process. After 23 years as President of Alpha Financial Management Inc., she is at the top of her financial game and continues to compete athletically along with her husband. In 2004, Iris won the US National Triathlete championship in her age group and qualified for the International Ironman competition in Hawaii where she competed in both 2004 and 2005.
Annette and Iris are an inspiration of the power within all of us. It is in stepping through the fear of being inadequate and embracing our power that we can create the life and the success we really want.
